Length: 55 Miles • 10,000' gain
July 26 - 31, 2024
Oh, hello Sierras! After an evacuated attempt at our 2023 fundraiser trip foiled by Hurricane Hilary, we were able to snag a few permits and hit the trails for six days making our way from South Lake to North Lake for a 55 mile trip.
We were welcomed into the forest with gorgeous weather and mild temperatures with (almost) no mosquitoes... until the last night! It's pretty impossible to narrow down a favorite day or part. Dusy Basin, Le Conte Canyon, Evolution Valley, the wonders of the JMT, it's all awe-inspiring and will bring you to tears.
At the end of the 55 miles, we managed to all still be friends. We spent time reflecting on what we had just accomplished, and what it means to represent Trailmixer on the trails. We love meeting new faces and talking to them about our mission, how this trip our 2023 fundraiser, and how we're so excited to tackle new heights in the future to raise money for underserved LGBTQ+ kids so they can have these sorts of experiences too. It's areas like Kings Canyon National Forest and the John Muir Trail that can give you peace and the grounding you need, and we love being able to pay it forward to young people very much in need of these things.
